Pointed hands reference Michelangos’s Sistine Chapel amplifying the ethereal nature of the work when presented at scale within the cityscape, where the work played on LUMO Digital billboards nationwide, as part of the campaign by Art Ache.
This work was created in conjunction with Aimee Ralfini’s work The Marigolds and uses the same core ingredients – Marigolds from the artists’ garden and a Bestway swimming pool. The hands featured in the work belong to Ralfini and that of her neighbour, the work was shot the Auckland’s cultural melting-pot – Ōtāhuhu.
The title of The work Solar Power speaks to the power of nature and makes a clear reference to the symbology of the Marigold flower across cultures, religions, and societies.
